News: Fayetteville man dies after being struck by 2 vehicles on I-49

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Authorities said a Fayetteville man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Friday evening.

According to KNWA, 34-year-old Louis Garland was walking in the southbound lane of I-49 near Wedington when the incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m.

The Arkansas Department of Public Safety said Garland was hit by the front of a southbound Ford Taurus, then was struck again by an Acura MDX, sustaining fatal injuries. Neither of the two drivers was hurt in the accident.

Officials said conditions were wet and rainy at the time.  There was no word yet on whether any charges would be filed.
